Sterling Silver
‣ Sterling silver tarnishes over time with exposure to air, though this process is accelerated by moisture, humidity, and contact with chemicals such as chlorine or perfumes. To remove tarnish, buff gently with the jewelry polish cloth included in your purchase.
‣ Avoid liquid jewelry cleaners, as it can be unsafe for use with certain gemstones.
‣ Always be gentle with your jewelry when wearing day to day and when taking it on and off.
14k Gold Plating
‣ Moisture and chemicals are the natural enemies of gold plating! Do your best to remove plated jewelry before exercising, showering, and swimming, especially in the sea and in chlorinated water. If wearing perfume, sunblock, or other lotions, apply them and wait for them to dry fully before putting your jewelry on.
‣ When you are done wearing your jewelry, wipe it gently with the soft cloth included with your purchase to remove any oils from your skin from the day.
‣ When not wearing your jewelry, store it in the bag or box it came in to prevent scratching and to help preserve the gold plating.
‣ The plating on gold plated jewelry will eventually fade over time with regular wear. Gold plating can always be refreshed and redone, or you can enjoy the look of the base metal underneath.

Raw Brass
‣ Unplated brass pieces always develop a darker patina over time. To return them to their original shine, polish brass pieces using a cleaning solution such as Simichrome or Brasso. Gently clean the solution from your piece with dish soap and dry thoroughly. Avoid getting cleaning solution on any gemstone elements in your piece, as they can damage certain stones.

Though Nine Birds pieces are made to be sturdy for everyday wear, it is always impossible to say your jewelry will never become damaged or worn out over time. Nine Birds jewelry is protected under a one year warranty for damage under normal, everyday wear. This warranty does not include tarnish, which is considered a natural process that occurs over time for silver and plated pieces. Please see the care guide above for preventing tarnish to your jewelry.
Outside of the warranty, you may always reach out for assistance with cleaning or re-plating a piece if needed. In addition, pieces with damage outside of the warranty period can still be repaired for a small fee.
